Early Childhood Education Student of the Year

The Early Childhood Education Student of the Year Award will recognize a Vermont high school or college student who has demonstrated a passion and commitment to children and their families, a strong academic record, and leadership. This award was created to recognize and honor a student preparing for a career in early childhood education, working with and on behalf of children from birth through age eight.

Distinguished Service

This award will recognize an individual who is dedicated to building excellence for children and has had a sustained impact on the lives of young children and families over at least 10 years of service in Vermont.

Children’s Champion

This award will recognize the work of an individual, organization, or Vermont government official for their advocacy or voting record which has had a positive impact on young children in Vermont during the previous legislative session. It can be awarded annually or less frequently depending upon the decision of the VTAEYC Board and Executive Director.

Emerging Leader

This award will recognize an individual who has shown significant growth in themselves, influenced growth and inspired others to positively affect children, families, programs and the early childhood education community.

Outstanding Member

This award will recognize a VTAEYC member who demonstrates community engagement, not necessarily on behalf of VTAEYC but in alignment with VTAEYC goals, and for exemplifying the Mission and Values of VTAEYC. The award recipient will be selected for significant contributions to their community with regard to young children and the issues that affect them. (There is potential for more than one award to be given out depending on the nature of the nominations).

The above awards will be presented at the VTAEYC Annual Early Childhood Education Conference in October 2022 at the Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain. The award recipients are strongly encouraged to attend the award luncheon on October 13th and will receive a complimentary lunch for themselves and one guest. The recipients will also receive a one-year complimentary NAEYC+VTAEYC membership.
