Conflict is a part of everyday life. It is neither good nor bad. However, its effects can be either destructive or constructive, and which way it goes ultimately depends on our ability to constructively engage with each other.

Broadly speaking, this workshop will build participants’ understanding of some sources of conflict and of attitudes for effective conflict engagement with an emphasis on communication skills, particularly empathic listening. More specifically, this workshop is tailored for engaging with those who have expressed concerns about OPR’s Early Childhood Education Profession bill, particularly in cases of “data conflict” where there may be misinformation.

The focus is not on a full conflict resolution process per se, but rather on understanding and acknowledging concerns and, where appropriate, sharing accurate information that the other person may find useful. Some time for skills practice and reflection is included as a part of the workshop.

This training is a closed training intended for past Leadership Circle Participants.
