Nancy Steeley. Ed.D brings enthusiasm and a commitment to early childhood education for more than 35 years. She passionately believes that all children need and deserve a quality learning experience that is welcoming to all. From a young age, children are curious, ask questions, and try to make sense of the world. Even our smallest children are picking up on societal norms and developing prejudice and biases. It is critical to teach children about respect, equity, and social justice, rather than reinforce intolerance, stereotypes and prejudice. This work is important to me because issues of equity, diversity and inclusion brings a rich tapestry of learning and caring that weave together an image of a better world. When I think of what I would like my young learners to be like in twenty years, I would like them to be kind, caring individual that see the importance in helping others. I bring this commitment to all the work that I do on the VtAEYC Board.
