The scholarship covers 80% of the cost of tuition and 90% of the cost of books. It also allows the teacher to have release-time each week. The teacher’s director/administrator will provide up 3 hours per week of release time. T.E.A.C.H. provides an access stipend each term, a $250 bonus upon completion of the scholarship contract, and reimburses the center for release time hours. T.E.A.C.H. staff provide counseling and administrative support for the program.
For those going through the Peer Review process, the scholarship will cover 80% of the application fees.
The teacher must contribute 10% of the cost of tuition and 10% of the cost of books. The teacher must complete 3-9 credits through the Vermont Agency of Education’s Higher Education Collaborative with coursework at Northern Vermont University in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education, Champlain College’s Portfolio Development course and/or the peer review process during the one-year scholarship contract. The teacher must continue employment with the sponsoring center for one year after completing the course requirements or Peer Review process.
