The scholarship covers 80% of the cost of tuition and 90% of the cost of books. An access stipend is provided for each term and a $250 bonus upon completion of the scholarship contract. It also offers the provider a stipend for the cost of having a substitute for release-time each week. The provider can use this to have a substitute coverage to study, attend class or meet personal needs. T.E.A.C.H. staff provide counseling and administrative support for the program.
For those going through the Peer Review process, the scholarship will cover 80% of the Peer Review fees.
The provider must contribute 20% of the cost of tuition and 10% of the cost of books. The provider must complete 3-9 credits through the Vermont Agency of Education’s Higher Education Collaborative with coursework at Northern Vermont University in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education, Champlain College’s Portfolio Development course and/or the peer review process during the one-year scholarship contract, and continue to operate the family child care home for one year after completing the course requirements or Peer Review process.
