SUMMARY:The Blue Brain - Being Male\, Young & Energetic
DESCRIPTION:Let’s debunk bad science. The male vs. female brain “research” is filled with myths. Most of the differences in development are the result of nurture not nature. This presentation will examine the few innate differences in male and female brains then go on to look at how parents\, peers and society influence the wiring of our most complex system. The program concludes by asking if “Rough and Tumble Play” belongs in childhood and offers time for action steps in addressing the blue brain. \nDates & Time: January 15\, 2026\,  6:00PM-7:00PM \nFebruary 19\, 2026\,  6:00PM-7:00PM \nTrainer: Scott Noyes \nLocation: Zoom \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Windham Network: The Responsive Educator: A Community of Practice
DESCRIPTION:This training series is closed to the Windham Network. To attend this training\, please join the network by emailing Melissa Mroz-Gaskill and Jessica Farquhar at missymg64@gmail.com and jaf122407@gmail.com. Not in your area? To find a Vermont Early Childhood Network in your area\, click HERE. \nThe Responsive Educator is a professional development opportunity designed to support early educators in building deeper understanding of responsive practice. Grounded in the belief that children thrive when their identities\, backgrounds\, and unique needs are honored\, this learning experience introduces educators to strategies that promote truly inclusive\, identity-affirming environments. Through a Community of Practice (CoP)\, participants will reflect on their daily interactions\, share insights with peers\, and explore practical approaches for meeting the diverse needs of children and families. This collaborative PD strengthens educators’ confidence\, intentionality\, and commitment to ensuring every child is seen\, valued\, and feels a strong sense of belonging. \nThe Responsive Educator PD is offered as a Community of Practice made up of 6 sessions that included guided reflection\, collaborative discussion\, and practical strategies for responsive practice. In addition to the facilitated meetings. Participants complete brief out-of-class activities – such as reflections or classroom application tasks – which are counted toward the professional development hours. Together\, the in-session learning and out-of-class work support educators in applying responsive practices directly in their daily interactions with children and families. \nDates & Times: February 24\, 2026\, 6:00PM-8:00PM \nTrainer: Anne Simonds \nLocation: Winston Prouty\, Brattleboro\, VT \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:NAEYC Accreditation System Redesign: What Programs Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:NAEYC Accreditation has long set the national standard for high-quality early learning programs. Accreditation signals to families\, educators\, and policymakers that a program prioritizes high-quality learning experiences and continuous improvement. The Early Learning Program Quality Assessment and Accreditation System now offers a more inclusive\, flexible\, and streamlined model that reflects the realities of today’s early learning landscape. This new system is more accessible to all program types and aligned with best practices. \nWhether you’re a program seeking accreditation\, a program who is curious to learn more about accreditation\, or a currently accredited program who’d like to learn more about the new system\, SPARQS is here to help you navigate. Join Julie Buechler\, a SPARQS Quality Support Specialist\, to learn more about the NAEYC Accreditation System redesign\, how the redesigned Accreditation system aligns with Vermont’s quality standards (STARS)\, and ways that SPARQS can support your program. \nDates & Time: Wednesday\, March 4\, 2026\, 1:00PM-2:00PM \nTrainer: Julie Buechler \nLocation: Zoom \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Addison Evening Network Training: Brain Based Responses to Challenging Behavior
DESCRIPTION:Challenging behavior can be extremely frustrating\, especially when our usual tricks aren’t working. In this training\, we will peek into the brains of children whose behavior adults find challenging and discover how their nervous systems may be driving their behavior. Then\, through this new lens\, we will explore brain-based approaches to prevent and address challenging behavior. We will also consider how our own nervous systems might be working against us during these moments and discuss ways to keep ourselves regulated in order to respond more helpfully to challenging behaviors. \nThis is an Addison Evening Network Training. SUMMARY:Preschool Network: Creating Felt Safety with the Four Priorities of Trauma-Informed Education
DESCRIPTION:Let’s talk about how to build safety and care in the classroom by dialing in the four priorities of trauma-informed practices. In this workshop\, we’ll first explore what trauma is and how to recognize it (and when we might not). You’ll learn about how predictability\, flexibility\, connection\, and empowerment come together to create felt safety. We’ll talk about how each of the four priorities addresses a core need for trauma-affected students (and teachers\, too). And we’ll unpack some of the complexities\, like how we hold predictability and flexibility together. \nThis is a Preschool Network Training. If you are interested in joining the Preschool Network\, please select the appropriate option within the question: “Are you a member of the Preschool Network?” \nDates & Times: April 14\, 2026\, 6:00PM-7:30PM \nTrainer:  Alex Shevrin Venet \nLocation: Zoom \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Burlington South Network: Temperament-Focused Approaches to Challenging Behavior
DESCRIPTION:Each of us has a unique\, innate style that informs how we see and interact with the world. Understanding these differences can give us insight into behaviors we find challenging in others. This training will offer a framework for understanding what drives behavior and how adults can use this insight to support all children in a diverse classroom. We will learn about different temperament types and identify the strengths and challenges of each. Participants will learn practical strategies for observing temperament\, adapting environments\, and responding to challenging behaviors in ways that honor each child’s individual differences. We will also reflect on how our own temperament impacts our approach and discuss strategies for increasing the “goodness of fit” in our relationships. \nThis is a Burlington South Network Training. If you are interested in joining the Burlington South Network\, please select the appropriate option within the question: “Are you a member of the Burlington South Network?” \nDate & Time: April 29\, 2026\, 6:00PM-8:00PM \nTrainers: Aricha Drury \nLocation: Zoom \nClick Here to Register

SUMMARY:Central VT ECE Networking Event
DESCRIPTION:Connection is essential for early childhood educators. Resilience is not something we build alone\, but something that grows through relationships\, shared experiences\, and the support we offer one another along the way. Even in the midst of a challenging day\, joy can be found\, in laughter\, in small moments of connection\, and in the collective energy of people coming together with purpose. Rooted in the Strengthening Families framework\, this free professional development gathering offers time to build meaningful social connections and recharge alongside peers.\nJoin us for an evening of connection and learning with fellow early childhood educators in a supportive and collaborative space. There will be food\, a take‑home craft\, and other meaningful offerings to support your work and wellbeing. We’re thrilled to welcome April Zajko\, a nature‑based Early Childhood Educator\, who will share thoughtful reflections and inspiration. Participants will leave with practical ways to deepen relationships\, access support\, and contribute to communities where connection\, resilience\, and joy are shared and sustained. \nLight refreshments will be provided. \nClick here to view the networking event flyer \nDate & Time: May 1\, 2026\, 6:00PM-8:00PM \nTrainers:  Arianna Van Houten\, April Zajko \nLocation: Barre\, VT \nClick Here to Register
